Our Authors
JP Weaver
Founder of Riverfolk Publishing, JP Weaver is a jack of all trades. His first novel, The Badger Company, is a character driven Military Space Opera whilst his second, Tales of the Riverfolk, is pretty much the opposite! This delightful fantasy focuses on a young otter who has finally come of age and now must take over his family business, selling fish at the local Bazaar.
Avitue (W. Huang)
Avitue began writing in late August 2021, partly out of boredom since work was slow and down to half-days during the pandemic, but he’s been inspired to write since high school. Having initially shelved a lot of his ideas due to them not fitting with the local fiction market, Avitue finds he now has a wealth of ideas and inspiration to drawn from.
Alexa Lee
Alexa began writing during the pandemic, without really knowing what she was doing, but she quickly got hooked. Now, she writes almost constantly. Young adult fantasy and sci-fi are her preferred genres, but she’s also dabbled in tragedy and horror. As a mental health specialist, her expertise seeps into her writing, making the stories stay with you long after you put the book down.
Aaron Sofaer (Pastafarian)
Aaron lives in California, working as a software developer while muttering enviously about the superiority of walkable communities and countries with vastly better support for raising children.
Having had the Path of the Writer unlocked by the mid-life acquisition of an awesome rainbow hat, Aaron is now trying to inflict thirty years of arguing about civics and public policy at the Shabbat table onto readers seeking fantasy novels. Rumors that the devastating smirk masks a series of deep, dark secrets are entirely unsubstantiated—all such secrets are all-too-shallow and prone to being shared at the drop of a pin.
Simo
Simo is a passionate fantasy author who embarked on his literary journey at a very young age. Like many writers before him, his love for reading ignited his imagination and creativity. At just 12 years old, Simo made his first attempt at writing a novel, a spontaneous decision that sparked a lifelong passion for storytelling.
Simo's current book, “Reborn as a Dragon,” is a testament to his fascination with stories featuring non-human main characters. Frustrated by the lack of such narratives, he decided to create his own.
This book is especially significant to Simo, as he dedicates it to his sisters, whose unwavering support and encouragement were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.
When not writing, Simo can be found exploring new worlds through books, continually inspired by the boundless possibilities of the fantasy genre.
Kim Smuga-Otto
Life takes strange turns. Trained as a scientist and journalist, Kim Smuga-Otto somehow ended up writing a story about a boy band who saves fantasyland.
In addition to being the author of the Boy Bands & Dragons series she writes short science fiction and fantasy and co-hosts a writing advice podcast, Words to Write by. She lives with her husband and two children in Santa Cruz, California.
Eura “Euphridia” Abrams is a self-proclaimed adult who loves delving into fantasy worlds and writing about the characters she meets along the way. Her books, like The Last Rae of Hope: A Reluctant Return, blend fantasy, comedy, and satire, often turning familiar tropes upside down.
Eura enjoys crafting stories where fate and free will collide, leaving readers questioning everything. When she’s not writing, she’s either daydreaming or pretending to be responsible—sometimes both.

Etgoma
Etgoma is a warrior writer, creator, and illustrator from Ukraine. A psychologist by education, they dedicate their life to writing and illustrating stories that make a difference, raising fundamental questions without answers. Their first novel, Until Death Taps You on the Shoulder, was crafted during the full-scale war in their country during air raids and city shelling and came as their own battle cry. When they’re not writing or drawing, they are either fighting inner demons or having tea with Baba Yaga in the hut with chicken legs on the other side of any logic.
Curtis A. Deeter
Curtis A. Deeter is an author of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. When he is not writing, he enjoys spending time with his family, discovering new music, and taste-testing craft beer at local breweries.
Ria Corvidiva
Desk jockey by day and writer by moonlight, longtime gamer and speedrunner Ria Corvidiva is proof that writers are sucked in from every background imaginable. When she's not absorbed in the thrills of Microsoft Excel, and sometimes when she is, Ria crafts stories showcasing the feats of powerful women who are determined to take on the injustices of the world and their struggle not to lose themselves in the process.
J. L. Nichols
J. L. Nichols began writing in his early childhood after discovering the wonder of the fantasy genre. However, as he got older, his passion for writing slipped away, but when the pandemic hit and he was left at home for months with nothing to do, he decided to create his own entertainment. Then, having rediscovered his love for writing, he returned to college and pursued a degree in creative writing.
Now, as a college graduate, J. L. teaches English at his local university while writing in his free time. His first book, The Rise of the Blood God, was written between classes and offered him an escape from the stress of daily life. It’s this escape that J. L. hopes his readers experience, and it’s with this in mind that he continues to create.
